Mavis Future Faculty Fellows (MF3) 2026
The Mavis Future Faculty Fellows (MF3) Program in The Grainger College of Engineering was developed to facilitate the training of the next generation of great engineering faculty. The three main components to the MF3 Program are research, teaching, and mentoring. Fellows will have an opportunity to develop and enhance their skills in these core areas through various professional development activities.
MF3 Fellows are admitted on a competitive basis. Selected fellows for the 2026-2027 academic year will receive an award of $2,000 for participating in the program, paid in two installments and pending fellows completing the required milestones/assignments. Fellows for the 2026-2027 academic year will be announced by May 1, 2026.

Eligibility
- Senior doctoral students (who have passed their qualifying exam) in The Grainger College of Engineering who express an interest in academia are eligible to apply.
- Fellows must be enrolled as full-time students during the fall and spring term while in this program.
- MF3 Fellows are required to attend class each week and meet the required expectations. https://mavis.grainger.illinois.edu/requirements/ – (Note: MF3 program requirements will be updated this summer to reflect the 2026-27 academic year.)

- Statement of Interest that describes why you want to participate in the program (1-2 pages max). Please address goals and accomplishments you hope to gain from this program.
- Statement of your career goals and interests (1-2 pages max).

- Current Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Letter of Recommendation from your research advisor that includes a commitment to serve as your academic mentor.
If you are chosen to be nominated to the College, a letter of endorsement from your Department Head or Director of Graduate Study will be written on your behalf.
