SS Radhakrishnan Scholarship

Shobana Radhakrishnan (MS CS ‘99) established the SS Radhakrishnan Scholarship in 2020 in order to help make education more affordable for Illinois Computer Science students and to honor of her father, SS Radhakrishnan. This scholarship will provide $5,000 to the recipient for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Eligibility:

  • On-Campus MCS students
  • Preference may be given to International students
  • Preference may be given to students that are involved with or have an interest in: Women in Engineering (WIE), Women in Computer Science (WCS) or other similar programs or organizations.

  5. Please provide an essay (500 word maximum) describing why you are pursuing a Professional Masters of Computer Science degree and how an Illinois MCS supports your future goals.
  6. Please provide an essay (1000 word maximum) sharing your involvement with Women in Engineering (WIE), Women in Computer Science (WCS), or other similar programs or organizations. Please include how the experience(s) has/have impacted you. If you are not currently involved with these or similar organizations, please write about how you plan to get involved and what you would hope to gain from such an experience.
  7. Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) and broadening participation in computing (BPC) are an important part of the UIUC CS mission. Please write a brief paragraph telling us how DEI figures into your past and present teaching, research, community engagement, and your lived experience? How do you imagine incorporating attention to DEI into your future work?
